Background

In today's world, the once-in-a-century changes are accelerating, with economic globalization facing headwinds. A new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation is deepening, leading to significant adjustments in the global innovation landscape and economic structure. Over the past few years, businesses worldwide have faced real challenges such as partial disruptions in global supply chains and international logistics issues, prompting a reconfiguration of resources and the creation of new supply systems. Strengthening and consolidating global industrial and supply chain cooperation is a common interest and urgent expectation of the business communities in all countries.

On May 18, 2022, General Secretary Xi Jinping addressed the conference of the 70th anniversary of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the Global Trade and Investment Promotion Summit via video link. He emphasized the need to “ensure security and stability of the global industrial and supply chains, and make the ‘pie’ of cooperation bigger to allow development gains to better trickle down to people of all countries.” To fully implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi's important speech, the CCPIT hosted the first China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) in Beijing from Nov. 28 to Dec. 2, 2023.

As the world’s first national-level exhibition focused on supply chains, the first CISCE, themed “Connecting the World for a Shared Future,” facilitates connections across upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors, collaboration between large and small enterprises, integration of industry, academia, research, and application, and interaction among businesses worldwide. It helps achieve four key functions: trade promotion, investment cooperation, innovation clustering, and knowledge exchange. This initiative by the CCPIT is a proactive response to General Secretary Xi Jinping's important directives on maintaining the stability and smooth operation of global industrial and supply chains. It serves as an important platform to meet the international business community's urgent call for deepened cooperation in the supply chain, promotes the construction of an open global economy, and embodies the new practice of pursuing the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind.
