“China is the largest food importer in the world,” said Robert Aspell, Asia Pacific president for American food corporation Cargill, at the 1st China Int’l Supply Chain Expo held in Beijing from Nov. 28 to Dec. 2.
Cargill, a food and agricultural giant based in the United States, participated in the expo and showcased its supply chains of soybean and corn, from the planting field to the market. It also showed its practice of innovation and sustainability in agricultural industry.
“Cargill is very optimistic about the Chinese market,” sad Guan Huili, president of Cargill China.
In China, Cargill now runs a flavor-syrup production base, a pet food facility, an oilseeds processing plant and its first global innovation center for animal nutrition and health in Asia. Through collaborating with upstream and downstream Chinese suppliers, Cargill China has established a complete supply chain system after more than 50 years of growth in the country.
“This supply chain expo is a great platform where Cargill can meet and exchange views with government organizations, our clients and partners,” said Guan. “We can find business opportunities, keep informed of the industrial trend and foresee the development of China’s green supply chains.”
