September 26th - the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) held its regular press conference for September. CCPIT spokesperson Sun Xiao responded to present concerns regarding the stabilization and improvement of foreign trade.

Sun Xiao stated, that since the beginning of the year, global economic and trade growth has been weak while China’s foreign trade continues to face various pressures. However, China’s foreign trade has withstood multiple pressures, maintaining overall stability and demonstrating strong resilience, with continuous strengthening of internal dynamics. For instance, there has been an increase in the number of foreign trade entities, enhanced competitiveness in exporting high-value-added products, and rapid development of new foreign trade formats such as cross-border e-commerce. Moving on next, CCPIT will focus on stabilizing and improving foreign trade, making efforts in the following three aspects to support foreign trade enterprises in expanding their markets:

The first aspect is supporting companies in participating in domestic and international exhibitions. This involves organizing important economic and trade events such as the inaugural China International Supply Chain Promotion Expo and the Belt and Road CEO Conference. CCPIT will also handle the approval and management of overseas economic and trade exhibition projects. As of the end of August, CCPIT has approved 1,209 exhibition projects in 59 countries and regions for the entire year, with a planned exhibition area of 746,000 square meters. From January to August, 453 overseas exhibition projects have been implemented, comprising of 272 exhibitions with a total exhibition area of 288,000 square meters, involving over 18,000 participating companies.

The second aspect is to help companies benefit from more policy dividends. This involves leveraging the service enterprise database, large platforms, and free trade agreement information service platforms to provide a range of trade facilitation services to a wide range of enterprises. The facilitation services include rules of origin training, commercial certification convenience, including RCEP’s promotion of free trade agreements, brand development of geographical indication products, international green and low-carbon trade certification, and credit brand certification. The aim is to guide enterprises in active alignment with international rules, accurately applying free trade agreements, and transforming policy benefits into competitive advantages for expansion into international markets.

The third aspect is to help companies anticipate and address risks and challenges. This involves making full use of CCPIT’s professional expertise in areas such as commercial arbitration and mediation, intellectual property, and handling economic and trade frictions. It also emphasizes the role of the Trade Law and Platform in providing one-stop and full-chain commercial legal services to safeguard the rights and interests of businesses. From January to August of this year, the Trade Law and Platform website has a total of 2.793 million page views, with nearly 3,000 pieces of information published in various sections. The legal research database added 439 new Chinese laws and regulations and 38 foreign laws and regulations, receiving wide acclaim from businesses.
