The fourth China International Supply Chain Expo opened in Beijing on June 22, drawing participants from 85 countries, regions and international organizations to strengthen industrial and supply chain cooperation amid rising global uncertainties.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on Monday, Ren Hongbin, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), said the expo's international influence has continued to grow.

This year's expo has attracted 676 companies and institutions from 85 countries, regions and international organizations, with overseas exhibitors accounting for 36.5% of the total, according to Ren.

International guests highlighted the expo's role in promoting cooperation, enhancing supply chain resilience and fostering shared development.

Jagoda Lazarevic, Serbia's minister of domestic and foreign trade, said Serbia has brought companies to the expo for the second consecutive year, seeking to build more resilient supply chains, particularly in emerging industries.

She noted the expo comes at a critical time, with global trade facing challenges from tariff disputes to supply chain disruptions.

"This is a unique platform, and I believe it is the most prestigious expo dedicated to supply chains," she said.

Kraisin Vongsurakrai, vice chairman of the Board of Trade of Thailand, said the world is facing growing uncertainty, making closer regional cooperation increasingly important. He said China and other countries should work together toward a new era of development driven by technological advancement.

"May the expo be successful and beneficial to everyone involved," he said.

Yahya Abdullahoglu, China and Silk Road representative of Türkiye's Calik Holding, said China has become an important contributor to global supply chains thanks to its manufacturing capabilities and technological innovation.

"We have participated in this exhibition since its inaugural edition, and I really believe China is contributing a lot to the global supply chain," he said. "We also hope to further develop relations between Türkiye and China."

Tom Sidebottom, a board member of the American Association for Elder Care, said he hopes the expo will help deepen exchanges and build stronger partnerships between businesses around the world.

"This is my very first time at the expo and my first time in China," he said. "I'm excited to meet companies and businesses that want to support trade, commerce and exchanges between China and the U.S."

During the opening ceremony, Ren also released the Fourth China International Supply Chain Expo Beijing Initiative, which calls for jointly enhancing the resilience of industrial and supply chains, fostering new strengths for innovation-driven development, accelerating digital and intelligent transformation, promoting green and low-carbon development, and deepening cooperation within the global business community.

The fourth CISCE, hosted by CCPIT, is being held in Beijing from June 22 to 26 under the theme "Connecting the World for a Shared Future." The expo is organized around six thematic chains — Digital Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, Green Agriculture, Healthy Life, Smart Vehicle and Clean Energy — along with a dedicated Supply Chain Services Area.
